Earlier today I was the guest of the GROEN podcast by Femke Cornelissen and Maarten Goet. The recording was fun and solid, I really enjoyed every moment of it.
However, when Femke sent me this photo later, it reminded me a thousand other things from the past 24 hours…
Beyond that smile on my face there are so much that is (most probably) invisible for others…
A discussion with my mastermind group last night, which went much deeper into a few (personal) topics than ever before, making me re-think and re-evaluate things…
Then talking with my life-changing and world-opening coach, and all the thoughts and emotional storm that hit me after…
Then in the end of the day, going to bed late but smiling…
The morning with my children…
The drive to the studio…
To me, it’s all on the photo.
Also, the drive back home and my thoughts in the afternoon about all the “I-should-also-have-said-that” things in my imposter mind, and the whole internal discussion/debate emerging from it…
It’s all on this photo.
Thoughts and emotions and (self)doubts and mindful observations and wins and losses…
Can you see all of this on my face on the photo?
No?
No worries. I get it. You can see my smile, maybe thinking “she really had a good day”…
But I can tell you it was much more than just a “good day”…
And of course, the same goes for Femke on the photo.
Is she smiling?
Does she look confident?
I can tell you, her whole story from this morning, yesterday, and the years before, is behind that smile.
When you meet a person, anyone… or just see a photo… the story is there, will you recognize it or not.
Someone is smiling?
Or crying?
Sad?
Angry?
Furious?
Shy?
Doubtful?
Confident?
Depressed?
Hurt?
Energized?
Happy?
…
Next time when you encounter someone (anyone), please stop for a moment, and think about the story behind the face.
You don’t need to know the story to be able to appreciate and respect it.
Just stop for a moment, and feel it. It is there.
